The 21st edition of furnishing fabrics and curtains fair, Proposte, will take place at Villa Erba in Cernobbio (Como), Italy, from 7-9th May. Promoted by Ascontex Promozioni and Consorzio Promozione Tendaggio Italiano, the show is set to deliver a host of innovations, which is emphasised by its new tagline – always on the move.

Proposte prides itself on offering a quality array of product from a specially-selected list of European exhibitors. The event is equally discerning when it comes to its visitors – members of the public are not admitted, and trade professionals can only enter if invited and issued an entry card by the fair’s operative secretariat.

The show’s 20th edition was celebrated last year, at which 104 exhibitors showed 6363 visitors – 14 fewer than in 2011 – their latest collections. The event boasted an increased proportion of international arrivals, which represented 64.5% of the total number of visitors – in comparison to the previous year’s 61%.

The most prominent international visitors were listed as thus: those from Germany – 564 visitors, an increase of 6.4%; those from the UK – 432 visitors, an increase of 3.2%; and those from the US – 372 visitors, an increase of 14.5%. A 2-3% increase was recorded for visitors from the following countries: China, Japan, Taiwan, India, Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands.

A report detailing last year’s trends – which lists the most significant textile collections in terms of design, structure and colour – is featured on the fair’s newly-launched website. The four most prominent trends at Proposte 2012 comprised new ethnic, sustainable, extrovert and luxury fabrics. This year’s event is set to unveil even more innovations.

Proposte’s official pre-catalogue for 2013 will be launched this month. The fair’s organiser has announced that a number of new companies – from Italy and abroad – has been admitted to exhibit.
