With an official launch on 7th October 2015, Rudie’s is an exciting and unique casual dining restaurant in Dalston that will provide customers with a truly authentic taste of Jamaica. A sharing style menu featuring real jerk dishes, small plates with a contemporary twist on traditional Jamaican cooking, expertly mixed cocktails and an eclectic mix of Jamaican music, will all be served up within the vibrant and relaxed environment.

Rudie’s signature real jerk dishes – offered in a range of meats – will be marinated for 24 hours in a secret blend of herbs and spices, smoked using pimento and sweet wood, and finally cooked over coals in traditional jerk drums.

The hugely popular Jamaican street food, Jamaican patties, will also feature on the menu including a very special spiced lobster variety. Other small plates on the enticing menu include curry goat dumpling with pepper jelly, bammy bruschetta – traditional cassava bammy topped with coriander, mint, cherry tomatoes and flaked salt cod – and a zingy shrimp salad with fresh jalapeno.

Those with a sweet tooth will love Rudie’s decadent dessert menu – dive into sticky rum cake with rum butter sauce and ice cream or freshly made banana caramel doughnuts. Add a shot of rum to the mix for extra indulgence!

With 60 covers, the restaurant interior will incorporate an open plan kitchen and a central rum bar designed for counter dining. Other design features include large stylish lighting installations, bespoke furniture and sculptures. Installation pieces in the shape of palm trees stand like beams throughout the room, the would-be fronds tipped with lighting fixtures that brighten the already vivid space.

The bar will house the UK’s largest selection of quality Jamaican rums including the likes of Appleton Estate, Edwin Charley and Monymusk. Rudie’s has collaborated with the UK’s top rum mixologists to create a dozen sensational rum based cocktails chronicling the Island’s history. There will also be Jamaican and local craft beers on offer, a focused wine selection to perfectly complement the Jamaican cuisine, and an innovative selection of Jamaican inspired soft drinks such as fresh juices, smoothies and coffees.

Rudie’s co-founder, Matin Miah, comments: “Our primary focus is the food at Rudie’s. We’ve spent a lot of time researching and travelling to find the best Jamaican ingredients and methods of cooking out there, and we can’t wait to share them with our customers. The atmosphere at Rudie’s will be cool, funky, casual and fun with a huge smiling persona – we want to bring a great big slice of Jamaica and the best real jerk to the streets of London.”
