Room Mate Hotels, founded and chaired by Kike Sarasola, has announced the launch of a new leisure concept: Room Mate Hotels Playa.

The launch of this brand extension is in direct response to customer demand and industry trends, expanding the company’s extensive city centre offering to beachside properties.

The chain is currently assessing projects in a variety of Spanish destinations that include Ibiza, Majorca, the Canary Islands, Costa del Sol plus international destinations such as Mexico. Room Mate Hotels plans to open its first Room Mate Playa in summer 2017.

Room Mate Hotels is expected to end the year with an occupancy rate above 87% and more than €70 million in turnover. The average price rose from €128.78 to €133.42 in 2016.

“This is one of Room Mate's most significant strategic initiatives for the coming years," says Kike Sarasola, President and Founder of Room Mate Hotels. "I am very proud that we are expanding beyond our city centre locations into beachside, holiday hot spots.

"We want to bring the essence, spirit and personality of Room Mate to beachside destinations. Staying true to our core values, we want to offer an excellent location, bold design, and friendly service at new destinations with different concepts.

"We have always defined ourselves by being customer oriented and listening to our guests. This new concept is a true reflection of this, and it will provide our ‘Room Mates’ with fantastic new services."
