DesignAgency, interdisciplinary design studio of impactful interiors and brand experiences, is delighted to announce the promotion of Jamie Phelan and Alexandra Cole as Principals. Phelan and Cole join co-founders Allen Chan, Matt Davis and Anwar Mekhayech in ushering in a new era for the privately owned company.

According to Founding Partner, Anwar Mekhayech, “We’re incredibly proud to formally acknowledge the talent within our studio and to promote them to the next level. Jamie and Alexandra have enhanced our capabilities, improved the quality of our work, and strengthened our culture and client services. Their ideas, creativity and leadership are invaluable as we look towards the future. This transition is evidence of our studio’s plan for growth, of which succession is a key priority.”

Since joining DesignAgency in 2011, and in her role as Creative Director, Jamie Phelan has had a significant impact on the practice’s creative vision, design standards and client service. Jamie lives and breathes design. She is both humble and joyful – inspired to create beautiful spaces for her clients. Throughout Jamie’s longstanding tenure with the company she has worked with many of the studio’s foundational clients including Generator, Hyde/SBE, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Fitzrovia, NeueHouse, The Drake Hotel and Dimensions.

Alexandra Cole joined the studio in 2016, taking the lead in opening the practice’s Los Angeles and Washington D.C. studios. As US Managing Director, Cole strengthened relationships with American clients including Montage International, Hilton, Marriott, Carver Road Hospitality, NeueHouse and 13th Floor. Alexandra’s passion for excellence in every respect uplifts everyone around her and is a testament to her large professional network. Through her intelligent, resilient and kind leadership, Alexandra manages complex and often conflicting needs to ensure outcomes that exceed expectations.

Founding Partner Allen Chan says, “It gives us great pleasure to honour Jamie and Alexandra and to acknowledge their passion for working with clients to develop incredible brands and guest experiences.”

DesignAgency currently employs over 120 people with studios in Toronto, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Barcelona.
