West Half Lounge is one of DC’s newest iconic properties designed by V Starr – a striking space taking up the penthouse level of 1205 Collection
Dramatic and luxe, West Half Lounge is part of one of DC’s iconic properties. Overlooking Nationals Park, the space comprises two lounges, a mezzanine level, and two levels of outdoor terrace space. The vision was to capitalise on the magnificent views of the baseball field and the city of Washington, DC. V Starr’s brief was to design a high-end luxury lounge for the residents of the building to enjoy as an extended amenity space. A space to unwind, relax, gather and enjoy.
With inconspicuous references to baseball throughout, the key element was to highlight the spectacular view from all areas of the lounge. The finer details within the space mark subtle references to the baseball game, such as the stitching details on furniture pieces and wall panels that resemble stitching details one can find on the baseball and glove; the vertical wood elements referencing the barrel of a baseball bat; and the metal inlays that pay homage pay homage to the metal elements on a traditional baseball shoe.
