Ennismore, along with joint venture partners Zanklon Capital (“Zanklon”) and Extendam, have announced the signing of Mama Shelter Lake Como. Nestled into the dramatic landscapes at the foot of the Italian Alps, Mama brings her sassy and flamboyant personality to the legendary resort city of Como in mid-2026.

Located in the city centre of Como, Mama Shelter Lake Como will be a haven for people of all ages, featuring 150 guestrooms in five categories, including 21 suites, all in Mama’s irreverent style that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Where acquaintances become friends, and friends become family, Mamas Shelter hotels are places to gather and celebrate. From intimate meeting spaces and private karaoke party rooms to regular programmed nights, Mama in Lake Como will bring the party vibe through music, entertainment and urban design.

Across two new buildings, Mama guests will have four restaurants and bars to choose from: a signature restaurant and bar that will be the beating heart of the hotel; Café Gelato, a quick stop for those seeking a sweet treat or caffeine fix; a rooftop bar, the perfect stop for sundowner drinks; and, exclusive to guests of the hotel, a casual rooftop, poolside restaurant, complete with a wellness area.

On the southern shores of Lake Como and flanked by stunning mountain scenery, the city of Como is blessed with striking natural beauty, rich culture, architecture and history. The mountains offer a paradise for keen hikers, and the enticing deep blue waters call out for a swim with several public beaches and lidos on offer for Mama Shelter guests  Just two minutes to Como San Giovanni Train Station and 35 minutes to Milano Malpensa Airport, Mama Shelter Lake Como is a place for happy vacationers and passing nomads delighted to savour the sweetness and art of living in this beautiful city and natural scene.

Cedric Gobilliard, Brand Chief Operating Officer for Mama Shelter at Ennismore, said: “Equal parts glamorous and discreet, the holiday destination of Lake Como is ever-evolving and attracting people of all ages. Mama Shelter Lake Como, our second destination in Italy, following the opening of Rome in 2021, will bring Mama’s signature joie de vivre and sass, offering something truly unique in this enchanting city where style and natural beauty reign. Like all Mamas, this will also be a destination for locals – inviting them in from morning to night – and becoming a place for the families of Lake Como to come together.”

“Lake Como has historically been a top destination globally for both leisure and business travel, and we believe this will continue to be the case for decades to come,” said Natale Giostra, Managing Director at Zanklon Capital. “The acquisition of the Mama Shelter Lake Como positions our joint venture with Extendam well to capitalise on the continued strength of Italy as a travel destination.”

“We are delighted to be completing the acquisition of the Mama Shelter Lake Como in JV with Zanklon Capital,” said Bertrand Pullès, Managing Partner at Extendam. “We have strong conviction in the long-term potential of the asset as one of Lake Como’s leading lifestyle hotels, given the excellent location in the heart of the city, the fantastic quality of the hotel and the market-leading brand.”

Angelo Maiocchi, CEO of Nessi & Majocchi, vendor and developer, stated: “We are thrilled to announce our plans to transform an undeveloped piece of land that has remained vacant for many decades into a vital community asset. Our expertise in hospitality will guarantee that this project upholds the highest standards of quality and sustainability, enhancing the local environment and economy while providing modern accommodations that cater to the needs of travellers and residents alike.” The project has been designed by the studio A+B2 architettura.
