Hermitage Bay to reopen with new upgrades

Hermitage Bay, the luxury resort on the west coast of Antigua, has reopened for the season with new and exclusive offerings, following the US$30 million investment led by international hotelier Daniel Shamoon.

Thoughtfully designed to elevate the guest experience while preserving the resort’s signature sense of soul and deep connection to the natural environment, updates include the complete renovation of all villas, now with private hot tubs for Beach Front Villa Suites; a beachfront spa with new treatments and rituals inspired by the island; exclusive experiences such as private sunset sails and snorkelling adventures on a 100-foot vintage schooner, and elevated Caribbean dining options.

Now a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Hermitage Bay benefits from the hands-on expertise of the visionary team behind Puente Romano Marbella and Marbella Club (both members of Leading Hotels of the World), as well as Nobu Hotel Ibiza, Nobu Hotel Marbella, Nobu Hotel Marrakech, and the soon-to-open Nobu Barbuda, with management by Luxury Hotel Partners.

Daniel Shamoon, co-owner at Luxury Hotel Partners comments: “With the expertise we’ve developed through our international properties and the Small Luxury Hotels of the World community, we have gently reimagined this much-loved hotel into a world-class destination. We have refreshed accommodation, dining, entertainment and activities to reflect our holistic approach to every stay, and established a clear ambition for Hermitage to be the best hotel in the Caribbean”.

Enhanced Accommodation & Wellness

All 30 villa suites are now completely remodelled to balance interior style with generous outdoor living and expansive sea views. In addition to the renovated Hillside Pool Villa Suites and Garden Pool Villa Suites each having private pools, now all Beachfront Villa Suites feature a private hot tub on the terrace to further enhance guest privacy and comfort.

Additionally, the signature spa has been transformed, moving from its hillside location to a serene beachfront setting. Overlooking the ocean, the new treatment rooms invite guests to indulge in new therapies and rituals inspired by the island’s botanicals and designed to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual renewal.

Exclusive New Guest Experiences

This season introduces new ways to experience the islands. A dedicated 100-foot vintage schooner available exclusively to Hermitage Bay guests, offers private sunset sails and snorkelling adventures, with guests able to take the helm and sail through Antigua’s pristine waters. Private beach picnics, prepared by the hotel’s chefs, can be arranged in secluded coves.

A fully equipped 50-foot fishing boat offers private and shared charters for inshore and offshore sport fishing, with the chance to land anything from local snapper to tuna.

Hermitage Bay will also continue to offer an array of signature experiences including helicopter journeys to Barbuda with exclusive dining at Nobu Barbuda and strolls along Princess Diana Beach, complimentary non-motorised watersports, private island-hopping by boat and guided land tours, including visits to Antigua’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites. All of which can be tailored to each stay.

Elevated Caribbean Dining

Dining at Hermitage Bay is a vibrant celebration of Caribbean flavours, with daily dishes and tasting menus showcasing local produce, homegrown harvests, the freshest catch of the day, and the island’s signature spices. At the new beachfront Beach Club restaurant, guests can savour these bold flavours to the soundtrack of live music, from steel pans and piano to soulful reggae, capturing the rhythm and laid-back spirit of Caribbean island life, from day into night.

What’s more, a daily omakase experience becomes a highlight each afternoon as the Tree Bar transforms into an Omakase counter, serving fresh sushi prepared by a professional, Nobu-trained chef.

World-Class Training Investment

Over the past year, the resort’s team of almost 160 staff members – many with more than a decade service – have completed in-depth training both in Europe and on-island. Team members travelled to properties such as Puente Romano Marbella to work alongside experienced colleagues at global names including Nobu and Cipriani, refining skills in gastronomy and mixology. Experts from Puente Romano Marbella and Nobu Hotels also delivered workshops and masterclasses in Antigua.

Led on-site by General Manager Rachel Browne, who has guided the hotel for 18 years, the team delivers a seamless blend of world-class service and the heartfelt warmth that defines Caribbean hospitality.

Rachel adds: “Having been part of Hermitage Bay for nearly two decades, it’s been a joy to welcome so many guests who return year after year and who now feel more like lifelong friends than visitors. Being part of the resort’s transformation in recent years has been a true privilege, and we’re thrilled to unveil new enhancements for those joining us again this season. While we continue to elevate the guest experience in exciting ways, our connection to the island and to the spirit of Hermitage Bay remains as strong as ever”.
