Belmond announces the appointment of Marco Novella as Managing Director of Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice, the brand’s Venetian classic set on Giudecca Island. Marco Novella will take up the position from the 28th June 2021.

Hailing from Milan, Marco has travelled and worked extensively throughout his 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality. Marco previously worked with Belmond at Villa San Michelle in Florence for four years as General Manager. Prior to his return to Belmond, he served as a Managing Director of The Lanesborough, London. Having worked with numerous luxury hotel brands in the United Kingdom, France, Monaco, and Italy, Marco strives to enhance the value of the iconic properties by combining innovation while staying focused on the historical roots and cultural heritage. He firmly believes in curating bespoke guest experience, proven by excellent results and prestigious awards throughout his career.

Robert Koren, Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, states: “We are extremely glad to welcome back Marco Novella to the Belmond family, especially in Venice, a city that Marco knows very well. With his brilliant experience in managing some of the best hotels in Italy and abroad, he will certainly be able to bring a breath of fresh air and creativity to Cipriani without jeopardizing its renowned value and cultural heritage. I’m sure that his approach strongly oriented towards the creation of unique experiences will find a breeding ground at our iconic property in Venice.”

“Coming back to Venice after all these years feels like going home – says Marco Novella – The love and respect I feel for this unique city are extremely motivational. Coming back as the new Managing Director of Cipriani – especially during the year of Venice’s 1600th anniversary – fills me with pride. I am sure that Cipriani will be the protagonist of a great rebirth of the city, in the visionary spirit of the Belmond Group”.

Set on Giudecca Island, a five-minute ride by private launch from St Mark’s Square, Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, captures everything La Serenissima is famed for. Sporting 270-degree views out across the water, stays at Cipriani enjoy vistas spanning the Doge’s Palace to the church of St Giorgio and the islands beyond. As one of the most celebrated luxury hotels in Venice, Italy, every inch of this iconic hideaway is guaranteed to enchant. Exquisite antiques and local artifacts whisk our visitors back in time, while Michelin-starred gastronomy, charming staff and the only Olympic-sized swimming pool in the city offer modern sophistication.
