One of the most iconic historical buildings in Liverpool – which has remained unused for the past 10 years – will be given a new lease of life as a luxury hotel. The former headquarters of White Star Line – one of the world’s biggest shipping lines, most well-known as owners of the Titanic liner – on James Street will become an 11-storey luxury hotel accommodating up to 310 guests.
The hotel will be called 30 James Street – Home of the Titanic, and will launch this April. The property’s renovation comes after being bought by Signature Living, which has invested £7m in the project.
With the help of historian Paul Louden-Brown and after months of research, Lawrence and Katie Kenwright – the duo behind Signature Living – have used the history of the building as inspiration for the renovation. The individual design of each of the 65 guest rooms is reminiscent of White Star Line’s history or the era.
The venue will also include a bar and restaurant called the Carpathia, named after the ship which became the safe haven for the 700 lives saved from the Titanic. Catering for up to 120 covers, the restaurant will take advantage of the views over Liverpool’s waterfront and iconic buildings.
