Marriott International has opened a luxurious ski and spa hotel under its signature brand, Marriott Hotels, at the heart of the new Gorky Gorod ski resort in Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi, Russia. The five-star Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel is ideally positioned at the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains, within walking distance of world-class ski slopes. The hotel is operated by an affiliate of US-based Interstate Hotels & Resorts.

“We are very proud to open the first Marriott hotel in Sochi and be part of the development of the region, which will continue in 2014 and beyond,” says Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe.

Markus Schmidt, area general manager of Interstate Hotels & Resorts in Krasnaya Polyana, adds: “This hotel will offer an extraordinary experience to all guests due to its location and the sheer number and quality of services and facilities it offers. The experience of Interstate Hotels & Resorts and its highly skilled associates, combined with the unique local culture, will ensure that our guests will enjoy their time with us.”

Spread over seven floors, the hotel’s 428 rooms and suites are inspired by natural materials, and come complete with complimentary internet and plasma TV with satellite reception. The River Café, the hotel’s centrepiece restaurant, serves international cuisine with European, American, Russian and Asian influences. Italian dishes can be enjoyed at The L’Olivio restaurant. Guests can also dine or sit with a glass of wine on the restaurant terraces, which provide awe-inspiring views of the mountains.

One of the largest in the region, the luxurious Soul spa is spread across 2000m² and houses nine treatment rooms, including private spa suites.

Private landscaped grounds face the mountains and boast an extensive complex of indoor and outdoor pools. The nearby Gorky Gorod entertainment centre features a water park complete with natural sandy beach, a cinema, a bowling alley, restaurants and cafes, and shops and boutiques.
