Ostermann introduces Airtec edging

As a result of the increasing demand for better quality, invisible joints remains an important objective. In addition to laser technology, machine manufacturers are increasingly considering the latest hot-air technology. For prominent edging specialist, Ostermann, this is reason enough to again position itself as a pioneer and to introduce the first Airtec edging to the market.

In its efforts to observe the developments of edging processing in the trade, Ostermann’s product management team has been in regular communication with some of the leading maching manufacturers. The discussions have unveiled that the trade expects an economically attractive and high-quality solution, with many machine manufacturers now relying on the latest hot-air technology for a jointless appearance.

Ostermann believes that the hot-air method will be the edging trend of tomorrow. The company’s support of the technology has led to its introduction of Airtec to the trade. This edging will be available in a variety of colours, designs and dimensions, and will be supplied with a speciall-developed Airtec functional layer.

In order to bond the Ostermann Airtec edging with the board and get an overall jointless appearance, the Airtec layer is activated by using over 300C hot-air and then pressed against the board. The functional coating of the Airtec edging can only be activated by hot air. Other processing  methods are not permitted. The Ostermann Aitec edging can be recognised by its new Airtec Logo.

Ostermann’s Airtec edging was developed and tested with leading machine manufacturers. Ostermann is living up to its name as a fast and reliable supplier by offering a lead time of only five working days.

A range of leading machine manufacturers such as Homag, Brandt, Biesse, Ima Klessmann and Schugoma have, in recent months, brought new hot-air machines and units to the market.

According to Ostermann, these hot-air machines are considerably cheaper than laser technology, and achieve similar results. The hot-air machine of the new generation also scores well when it comes to energy consumption.
