The countdown is on for Sleep 2014, which opens its doors on Wednesday 26th November at 10am. Over two days, Europe’s leading hotel design and development event will offer an exceptional array of ground-breaking ideas and newly launched products for architects, designers, specifiers, hotel operators, owners and developers with an eye on future trends.

Sleep Conference – Latest

Mark Bithrey of B3 Designers will be joining a line-up of ‘ones to watch’ in the hotel design and architecture community in a quick-fire session using the Pecha Kucha format to deliver bursts of inspiration, insights and viewpoints.

Other sessions will hear from leading hotel operators and developers about how they identify the parameters for realising a well-designed project; there will be a discussion about the triumphs and frustrations of working with heritage buildings – and the Conference concludes with ‘Question Time’ where a panel of industry leaders including Katrina Craig of Hotel Solutions Partnership, Celia Geyer of Hilton Worldwide and Hannah Carter Owers of Universal Design Studio, will be on hand to answers questions from the audience.

Sleep ‘Royale Agricultural Bar’ Revealed

Award-winning studio Stylt Trampoli, with contractor Famos Scandinavia AB have risen to the creative challenge for this year’s Sleep Bar, in association with Sleeper, envisioning a fresh and vibrant concept that will weave flora and fauna into a nature-based design inspired by the past life of the venue.

Sleep Set

Discover the hotels of tomorrow in this hotly contested design competition. Nigel Coates Studio is the latest design name to join competitors Dreimeta, NoChintz and SKM Design who will each reveal their built-concept rooms.

The winning team will be announced at 7pm in the ‘Royale Agricultural Bar’ on the first day of Sleep following tours of the rooms by the judges and a conference session where the designers will argue the case for their design.

Above & Beyond

Outdoor spaces are highlighted for the first time at Sleep in the Design Gallery at the Above & Beyond roof terrace curated by Phil Jaffa, founder of resort landscape architects Scape Design Associates, and furnished by KETTAL Outdoor Collections, with surface and light sourced by Cullinan Interior.

Experts from Scape and KETTAL will be “Out in the open” to discuss outdoor design with visitors in a one-to-one consultation – sessions can be booked via the Sleep website.

mycoocoon

Situated on the Gallery level, the mycoocoon pod is an organic colour light immersion treatment which aims to relax, re-energize and rebalance using colour, chromotherapy, aromatherapy and sound. Sleep visitors are invited to try out this healing, luxury experience destined for hotels and spas.

Digital Lounge

Digital Lounge is where visitors can experience the new exemplar in room design and prototyping from Space Group and Soluis, sample BIM and 3D design in action and find out how it could increase efficiencies and reduce time and costs on hotel projects.

Snoozebox

The brand new generation of Snoozebox, the portable hotel accommodation that has stirred so much excitement since it was launched at the British Grand Prix in 2011, will be one of the installations set up on the forecourt of the Business Design Centre. Several differently organised and accessorised rooms will be on show for Sleep visitors, demonstrating just how customised Snoozebox can be.

Polcom Modular

Also on the forecourt and transported from Poland exclusively for Sleep 2014 will be Polcom Modular, a full-size model of a hotel bedroom concept designed by London interior design consultancy, JSJ Design. Polcom, Peter Dann and Studio ånyo have collaborated to create the model which will demonstrate how BIM technology can create a streamlined solution from concept to manufacture and construction.

NEWH Returns

The NEWH Gallery will host the outstanding work of the 2014 Award winning Scholarship graduates from Ravensbourne who completed their BA Degrees in Architecture and Interior Design this year. The display will reveal the latest in design innovation across a range of media, all of which have been selected for their potential application in a hospitality environment, and the students will all be on hand to discuss their work.
