The LANDSCAPE Show, set to take place 22nd – 23rd July, is running a competition to design a ‘tree house without a tree’, and the winning entry is set to form part of the 2016 event (subject to sponsors).

The international event attracts designers, architects, landscape contractors, local authority landscaping professionals and facilities managers from across the UK and beyond.

The competition is open to all, and the lucky winner will receive:

  • A £1,000 cash prize
  • A 3D printed model made of the design
  • Media coverage before and after in the LANDSCAPE online magazines and related trade media, including features online and in social media

The brief is to create a contemporary elevated tree house as a freestanding structure with a footprint measuring no more than 3m x 3m.

The finished structure should be able to be incorporated into an open public space or a private dwelling and be built independently of a tree, but with the intention that it could be built independently of a tree, but with the intention that it could be built around a tree or within a woodland setting.

The structure should be sustainable and built to withstand the typical British weather.

The total build should be achievable within a £20,000 budget.

How to enter

Your submission should be no more than 2 x A3 pages and include:

  • A plan of the structure
  • One or two elevations
  • A description of the materials that you will use

Remember that only a concept design is needed at this stage, and that the winner will be asked to draw up a final plan in due course.

Sketches are acceptable as long as they are well-labelled and clearly understood.

Please send in two copies of your submission, and include a PDF digital copy either on disc or memory stick so that entries can be distributed for judging.

Hard copy entries should be sent to: Jeremy Storey-Walker, Event Director, LANDSCAPE Show, P O Box 3049, London SW1V 3XG, or emailed no later than Friday July 24th 2015.
