International design practice, HASSELL, has now merged with Singapore-based design practice, Distillery, known for its work in the luxury hospitality sector.
The merger, effective from July 2015, will bring together the collective creativity, knowledge and resource base of the two practices for the benefits of clients in South East Asia and globally.
“The Distillery team has worked with brands including Hyatt, Alila, Aman Resorts, GMH, Intercontinental, Taj Hotels and Four Seasons,” says HASSELL MD, Rob Blackhouse. “They have an intrinsic knowledge of the luxury hotel sector that they will bring to HASSELL.”
HASSELL is an integrated practice of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and urban designers, with studios in Australia, China, South East Asia and the United Kingdom. Its current projects range from large-scale resorts to boutique hotels, and include the Amari Dali Resort and Palm Island precinct in China.
“The merger has brought together two like-minded design teams,” says Distillery Principal, Paul Semple. “Our practices share common values and the integration of the teams has been a natural evolution for us. Distillery’s way of working and ethos will now continue under HASSELL and this genuine coming together is signified in both name and a joint sense of purpose.”
This is the latest of a number of decisions HASSELL has made to strengthen its commitment to Singapore as a hub for its international practice. It follows the appointment of Su Lim to the new role of global head of client engagement based in Singapore and the recent relocation of principal and board member, Caroline Diesner, from Perth to Singapore.
