The Roxy Hotel to be unveiled in May

This May will see the unveiling of The Roxy Hotel, with guest room interiors from NYC designer, Briana Stanley.

The Roxy is the new incarnation of the iconic Tribeca Grand Hotel, which has an intriguing place in New York history as a spectacular 1920s movie theatre and legendary ’90s dance club.

Now, tapping into the city’s collaborative culture and partnering with local icons like Paul Sevigny, Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee, Blackstones Hairdressing, The Roxy is reenergizing the lower Manhattan experience.

While a complete redesign of The Roxy’s 201 guest rooms will round out its transformation in mid-May 2016, the real focus has been on the hotel’s large public spaces.

These include the movie theatre, jaxzz clubs, coffee bar and styling salon carved from onetime conference space and meeting rooms. The new ground floor layout is outfitted with an elevated stage and flanked by tiered-banquette seating, offering prime perches for live jazz and blues performances five nights a week.

The catalyst for the evolution is Paul’s Cocktail Lounge, which has anchored the hotel’s nightlife and entertainment since its inception by Paul Sevigny. Rounding out The Roxy’s eclectic new venues and amenities are long-time, authentic New York staples, including:

The Django – launched September 2015: A new jazz club inspired by classic Jazz Age Parisian boîtes, offering brilliantly curated music and craft cocktails. The Django features jaw-dropping design details including vaulted ceilings, hand-picked Dieterle and Schwartz vintage lighting fixtures from antique markets, and artisan touches all complimenting a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound system.

The Roxy Hotel Cinema – launching April: Reviving the spirit of New York’s great indie theaters, The Roxy Hotel Cinema will screen creatively curated movies in collaboration with Submarine Films. The movies shown will recall the quirky, clever programming of iconic New York houses like the Thalia and the Bleecker Street. The cinema will also exhibit films by local directors and praiseworthy films from independent theaters that often have a limited a run.

Blackstones – launching early May: The innovative, unconventional, personalized East Village salon, whose clients include Alexander Wang, Helena Christensen, and Parker Posey, will open its first outpost inside The Roxy offering blowouts and barber shop services this May.

Blackstones at The Roxy will evoke the eccentricities of an eighteenth-century French cabinet of curiosities outfitted with fanciful powder-blue walls, wall-mounted wild life and antique grooming tools. Five Wits, the beloved, botanical-based product line from Blackstones, will become The Roxy’s exclusive provider of in-room amenities.

Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee – launching April 18th: As the only hotel to offer the brew, The Roxy has exclusively teamed with Jack’s, which enjoys selective partnerships with lifestyle brands like Rag & Bone.

New York’s favorite homegrown coffee company will be coming home to The Roxy with an intimate coffee bar serving its organic, fair-trade coffee drinks and organic baked goods. Founder Jack Mazzola worked as a bartender at the Roxy’s sister property, The Soho Grand, during its opening, before starting his company in 2003.

“We’re building on the Tribeca Grand’s legacy as a place where incredible things happened in pop culture,” says Tony Fant, President and CEO of GrandLife Hotels. “The hotel has been at the center of music and art downtown since it opened. We’re not looking to replicate a time period, but to create an evolution of what Tribeca’s become today, an incredibly exciting mix of past and present.”
