The Gettys Group promotes Chris McDonough to Principal

The Gettys Group, the award-winning global hospitality firm specialising in interior design, consulting, branding and procurement, today announced the promotion of Chris McDonough to the position of Principal. The honour comes as McDonough celebrates his 10-year anniversary with the firm.

“This exciting new position means that I can continue to help the company grow and further innovate within our industry,” McDonough says. “It also means that my team has enjoyed success, and this promotion is a reflection of those collaborative accomplishments.”

McDonough received both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is accredited by American Institute of Architects; Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED AP; and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.

He began his career with The Gettys Group as a senior project designer implementing renovations of the meeting rooms and spa at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel.

Bringing his career full circle, McDonough and his team recently completed a $27 million renovation of this iconic hotel, repositioning the entire property and creating the addition of a dynamic rooftop lounge overlooking the Chicago River.

“I love the fact that we have been able to work on a local flagship property multiple times and that I have been involved in literally all aspects of the design process,” says Chris.

“Chris’ singular design vision has contributed greatly to a number of projects for us,” says Roger G. Hill, Chairman/CEO of The Gettys Group. “From high-profile hotel initiatives such as The Godfrey Hotels in Chicago and Boston, the AGC Rotana in Dubai and the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago, Chris and his team put the guest experience above all else. I look forward to seeing where his talent and drive take him in this new position.

“Another one of the benefits of my new role is the ability to have additional contact with more of our studios,” Chris says, referencing The Gettys Group’s six global studios located in Chicago, Miami, Hong Kong, Manila, Jeddah and Dubai.

“Connecting the dots across the various studios for design, sales, operations and overall quality is thrilling for me.”
