Renowned for her ‘classic revival’ design style and her transformation of some of Paris’ most iconic hospitality venues, Laura Gonzalez has completed the interiors of Thiou a new Thai restaurant in the stylish and sought-after area of the Tour Maubourg.
Laura’s brief was to create an elegant, timeless dining room space that would draw parallels between the restaurant’s interior and its cuisine.
She has selected raw materials and soft, warm colours, from the pale oak woodwork, to the bolefloor flooring and terracotta leather seating. Dedar velvet armchairs, brass lighting, and an elegant brown marble bar add to this classic aesthetic.
One of Laura’s strengths is her ability to combine diverse materials to perfection, and this is very visible here with the blend of brass and marble in various forms, through to an eye-catching ‘fresco’ in the middle of the room, painted by David Roma of Atelier Roma.
Laura opted for linear and geometric woodwork, as well as an extravagant flecked Art Deco chandelier, to bring a touch of contemporary style to the space. The bar unit – which was completed on-site, also by Atelier Roma – creates silver flashes that bounce off the room’s lighting.
Mirroring the characteristic refinement of Thai interiors, Laura has furnished the restaurant’s terrace with drucker chairs, bespoke enamelled stone tables and pruned bushes.
