The Colton Arms to re-open in West London

West London pub, The Colton Arms, has re-opened with a brand new interior.

Tucked away down a leafy side street, The Colton Arms will offer all-day dining serving up a mixture of British classics and modern European plates in a beautiful setting with an intimate bar area, charming outdoor terrace and indoor ‘Potting Shed’ glass conservatory.

Previously owned by the same family for 52 years, The Colton Arms was looking a little tired, but its well-loved period features – including the copper bar and original tongue and groove panelling, log fire and handsomely carved antique wooden furniture – have been retained by new owners, husband and wife team Rupert and Jo Clevely.

FMuted tones of grey, green and grey will perfectly offset the gleaming polished brass and copper used throughout the space and the contemporary tiles and quirky light fittings will bring the new look venue up to date.

The pub will serve an eclectic menu embracing the great traditions of the British pub with Black Pudding Sausage Rolls, Scotch Eggs, Fish & Chips and even a traditional Ploughman’s, alongside more cosmopolitan cuisine with signature dishes including Burrata & Blood Orange, Beef Shin Ragu with Pappardelle Pasta and Hot Smoked Mackerel Nicoise. Brunch will be served daily with Buckwheat Pancakes, Avocado on Toast and Eggs Royal or Benedict just some of the mouthwatering dishes available.

The Colton’s small but perfectly formed cellar will feature a regularly rotating series of craft beers and excellent and a well-priced selection of wines and cocktails. The wine list has been expertly chosen by Rupert’s 89 year old father, a master of wine whose taste buds are showing no signs of slowing down.

Since its inception only a year ago, Hippo Inns have made it their mission to protect British pubs, breathing new life and sensitively restoring them. With pubs closing at a rate of 27 a week, and the number of pubs in the UK falling to their lowest level for a decade this year, they are determined to save many from certain closure.

The name Hippo Inns has come about as a result of Rupert’s three daughters saying, “Dad, you’ve been wallowing around doing nothing for far too long.” Rupert and his interior designer wife Jo were founders of Geronimo Inns, which they sold to Young’s in 2010. Hippo Inns have strong family values and are dedicated to delivering great food and drink at a sensible price in glorious surroundings.
