Blum innovates at Interzum

As always, the impressive Blum stand at this year’s Interzum exhibition in Cologne attracted a large number of visitors and industry professionals. A host of new innovations and product advances was unveiled by one of the leading names in the fittings industry.

Among the product highlights displayed at Interzum 2013 was Blum’s Clip top Blumotion. The concealed hinge range – with integrated soft close – comes as a 110°, profile door, blind corner, angled and aluminium frame hinge as standard, and is now available with an opening angle of 107°. The latest option offers a range of new possibilities. It has a smaller drilling depth of just 11.5mm, and can be used for door thicknesses of 15mm or more.

Also on display was Blum’s Aventos lift systems – comprising the bi-fold lift (HF), up and over (HS), lift up (HL), stay lift (HK) and small stay lift (HK-S and the new extra small HK-XS) – which cover a wide range of applications. New at Interzum was Blum’s Tip-On mechanical opening system, which is available for the HK stay lift as well as for HK-S and HK-XS – ideal for small handleless wall cabinets above a fridge or larder unit.

A large area was dedicated to Blum’s presentation of its box systems, such as the minimalist pull-out system, Tandembox antaro. This is available with a rectangular gallery or as an enclosed drawer with gallery and design elements of various materials, such as glass, metal and wood.

Legrabox – Blum’s new box system with slim and straight side walls – had two models on show, both with the matching Ambia-Line inner dividing system. The first was Legrabox pure with matt, metallic side walls, and the second was Legrabox free with large design elements using materials such as glass. Legrabox’s runner system boasts a synchronised featherlight glide and low sag values.

Blum’s Movento runner system for wooden furniture is available in a wide product range and has a high level of running characteristics. The concealed solution is designed for dynamic loads of 40 and 60kg, with high stability and low sag values. Movento was shown as an ideal basis for thick pull-out shelves for objects such as hi-fi systems.

Blum also presented two concept studies designed to bring more convenience to modern furniture. The first was the ability to apply Servo-Drive electric motion to wall cabinets, allowing the movement down to counter level for easy retrieval of items from the top shelves. The other presented a solution for overcoming counteracting forces, and finally combining the Tip-On mechanical opening system for handless drawers and pull-outs with Blumotion soft close.
