Decked out for summer with James Latham

James Latham, one of the UK’s largest independent timber and panel products distributors, is decked out for summer with the arrival of two dynamic new decking materials, with attractive aesthetic that are sure to last.

UPM ProFi Deck
Available in eight fresh and modern colours – all inspired by nature – UPM ProFi Deck brings style to outdoor living. Once installed, the design will continue to look its best throughout the years, requiring minimal maintenance.

UPM ProFi Deck sets new standards in colour durability. Unlike wood and other composites, it is virtually free of lignin, the natural wood molecule which turns grey when exposed to sunlight.

The surface is also environmentally friendly – the materials used to make it are specially selected from the by-products of other industrial processes, which would otherwise be disposed of in landfill or incineration.

UPM ProFi Deck’s stone-like surface is non-porous. As such – unlike wood and many other composite deckings – wine, oil and other liquid spills are not readily absorbed and can be easily cleaned.

In terms of maintenance, no sanding, varnishing, painting or staining is required, being replaced with brushing and the occasional jet wash in most cases. Furthermore, thanks to its high-friction surface, UPM ProFi Deck is ideal for outdoor areas in bars and restaurants, as well as swimming pool areas and marina walkways – whether wet or dry.

Walking on the surface in bare feet never results in splinters, and it feels warm in cold temperatures and almost soft to touch.

Lifecycle by UPM ProFi
Available in three colours – dark Walnut, golden Tigerwood or sun-bleached Desert Sand – Lifecycle by UPM ProFi, is a wood-plastic composite decking that has the luxurious look and feel of a real hardwood surface.

However, unlike timber decking, Lifecycle by UPM ProFi requires minimum maintenance to look good year after year. Made in the USA, the surface is backed by a 25-year manufacturer’s guarantee.

A further advantage of Lifecycle by UPM ProFi is its unique, stain-resistant, closed surface which does not absorb oil, spills or drips. The product is also environmentally friendly; 95% of the materials used to manufacture the boards are recycled.

Lifecycle by UPM ProFi requires no annual sanding, varnishing or staining, and the embossed woodgrain surface offers good friction, whether wet or dry. Furthermore, being splinter-free, Lifecycle is ideal for bare feet. Despite being hardwearing, the boards feel great to the touch and feature natural-looking streaks and veins, making each deck a distinctive surface.
