EPOC Handcrafted Beds delighted to be supplier of mattresses, beds and bespoke headboards for Chateau Denmark

Back in 2020 (when the world was a different place!), EPOC Handcrafted Beds were approached by Carrie Ann Wickes of CAW Ventures to be involved in a prestigious – and ostentatious – project that was to become Chateau Denmark.

“It’s not about showing our customers what we make, it’s about making what they want,” says Colin Payne, Director of EPOC Handcrafted Beds. This is no idle boast, with the company being one of the finest manufacturers of bespoke divan beds and mattresses in the UK. “Beds are our passion,” explains Colin. “Not just any bed, mind you, but beds that fit the customer perfectly. It doesn’t matter to us what size, shape, mattress tension, storage arrangement or fabric the client wants to use – the answer is ‘yes’.”

For that matter, it doesn’t matter where a customer is based either. The Suffolk-based company has shipped beds as far afield as the Bahamas, the south of France, the USA, Qatar and Dubai. It doesn’t even matter how many beds a customer requires, EPOC Handcrafted Beds has kitted out many a luxury hotel, as well as clients with multiple properties.

Working closely with Taylor Howes, EPOC Handcrafted Beds have been intimately involved in the manufacturing of mattresses, beds and bespoke headboards on the Chateau Denmark project to their specification.

With firm edge pocket sprung divan bases on castors as standard, and bespoke wall-mounted and floor-standing headboards, the craftsmen at EPOC Handcrafted Beds are proud of this work and pleased to see this project come to such successful fruition! Featuring upholstery fabrics from Warwick Fabrics, Designers Guild and Kirkby Design – the beds make a lasting impression without becoming the sole focus of the rooms. Finished with details ranging from bullion fringes from Houles of Paris, to skull button detailing on some headboards, or satin ebonised timber frames – each showcases traditional craftsmanship in a contemporary finish. The headboards are topped off with reading lights from Chelsom and Versmissen to create beds that guests won’t want to leave. The mattresses offer luxurious comfort and are embroidered with the Chateau Denmark wordmark for a bespoke finish unique to this one-of-a-kind venue.

Established in the East End of London by Joseph James Cope in 1949, EPOC was founded with one overriding ambition: to build the finest hand-made beds possible. Some 65 years later, this ambition remains the same. “With today’s technology we could make beds quicker, cheaper and in greater volume,” says Colin, “but we don’t. Although times and manufacturing techniques may have changed, at EPOC we still use traditional methods passed down from generation to generation. Hard work and a real passion for what we do has given us an enviable reputation within the industry. Handmade beds are not only our business – they are our passion.”
