Situated in the grounds of the 16th century Barra Castle, The Barn has unrivalled views across Aberdeenshire – providing a breath taking backdrop for any occasion and an idyllic wedding venue.
After many years of restoring Barra Castle itself, owners David and Sarah Stephens switched their focus to converting the castle’s external old barn into the striking wedding venue that it is today.
With its traditional, yet contemporary, interior style and informal atmosphere, Barra Barn has been a popular choice for weddings, conferences, dinner dances and private parties since it opened in 2017.
The sheer size of the barn meant that a bold, showstopping floor covering was necessary to transform the Barn. Owner Sarah Stephen says: “Having used Kährs flooring for the renovation of the Castle’s great hall – we were certain we wanted to opt for the Kährs superior quality and service again.
“The huge choice and attention to detail provided by Kährs was second to none. We chose the Espace due to its overall look and size. We were aiming for a “luxury rustic” look and given the compliments we get on a regular basis the choice of floor has achieved that goal!”
800 square metres of Kährs’ large format ‘Oak Espace’ grey-toned wood flooring design was installed throughout the venue, to striking effect.
Kährs’ Oak Espace features blue-grey nuances throughout and is finished with a bespoke handscraping treatment – the end result is a uniquely dynamic and rustic design with plenty of texture and character.
From the Grande collection, the design has an impressive board size of 2800 x 260 x 20 – ideal for making an impression large spaces. Kährs’ Grande collection features eight large format wood designs spanning from misty white to deep, smokey brown.
