Located in picturesque County Wicklow woodland, Druids Glen is one of Ireland’s premier luxury destinations. The five-star hotel and golf resort has undergone a refurbishment, for which it called upon Ulster Carpets to design bespoke woven axminster floorcoverings for five different areas.
Ulster designers worked closely with Ciara Ni Laoi from CLR Design to achieve a concept that would match the natural ethos of the refurbishment, inspired by the hotel’s mature woodland setting.
The guest rooms, suites and corridors feature a relaxing palette of purples, greens and neutral tones with a woodland design reflected by the surrounding scenery. Background textures add an earthy depth and sophistication to the design.
The natural theme continues into the bar area with stronger reds, greens and golds added to the colour palette to reflect the vibrancy of a social area. The swirl design mimics the hotel logo, which takes it inspiration from the mythical Celtic druids of the hotel’s namesake. A contrasting bold stripe outlines the bar rug and gives definition to the space.
Druids Glen is just one of a number of prestigious projects for Ulster in Ireland, with its unique PSLYO weaving technology and Northern Ireland location affording a design and logistical advantage for UK and ROI customers. Recent projects include the Burlington Hotel, the Shelbourne Hotel and Castle Bellingham.
