The design of this all-day brasserie and bar is the result of a collaboration between Bourne & Hollingsworth’s in-house creative team, and architects Box 9 and Red Deer. Drawing inspiration from the faded grandeur of a stately home, this unique venue in the popular Clerkenwell area is an ideal creative retreat.
Situated just off Exmouth Market, Bourne &”Hollingsworth Buildings will feature a 70-cover restaurant and greenhouse, a relaxed café area, characterful private rooms and a large bar - serving the brand’s famous cocktails.
Purposefully moving away from what the design team perceive to be “overthought and faddy designs that have flooded the London restaurant and bar scene in recent years”, the interior features pared back, classic interiors with a light, clean and almost minimalistic feel.
Throughout the 220m² space, whitewashed floorboards, classic cornicing and walls rendered with muslin are juxtaposed with bespoke ironwork, warm wood and antique armchairs and sofas reupholstered with thick patterned fabrics like Kilim and Hessian.
These unusual textures and modern shades combine with the trailing plants, creepers and full-grown trees to evoke the air of an abandoned country house – where the gardens and stately rooms have slowly merged into one another.
The café area features winged mahogany chairs and high-backed sofas, while the restaurant and greenhouse mix soft furnishings and armchairs with cane garden furniture.
Occupying a prime position in this famed design district, Bourne and Hollingsworth Building has been designed with those who live and work in the immediate environs in mind.
With the Bourne and Hollingsworth offices located upstairs, the venue will act as something of a brand HQ -“a welcoming space for all kinds of socialising.
