North London-based interiors, architecture and retail design consultancy, Brown Studio, has completed a new concept for Mexican restaurant, Chimichanga in Billericay, Essex.
Located on Billericay’s busy high street, the new restaurant design is based on a new concept that harnesses the colour and vibrancy of Mexico.
The interior draws from the historical past of the Mayan and Aztec civilisations, while featuring infusions of the contemporary street culture of Mexico’s cities. This contrast is what gives the design its unique look and feel, with temple ceiling details sitting alongside geometric floor-to-ceiling wrap-arounds.
The double-height void at the entrance creates a dramatic space that connects ground floor and first floor diners. The ground floor offers seating for 72 diners, while the first floor seats a further 52.
In terms of the decor, bright glass tiles, reclaimed wood and a cracked antique mirror create a warm and fun atmosphere.
