Hotel du Vin, St Andrews

Since opening its first hotel in Winchester, Hotel du Vin has become synonymous with the UK’s buoyant boutique hotel scene. In celebration of two successful decades in business, the brand has just opened this luxury hotel within St Andrews’ picturesque Old Town.

Situated in an unbeatable location – just moments from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews’ first tee, and the glorious golden West Sands Beach – this traditional stone and slate hotel fits right into this small, yet iconic Scottish town.

The hotel’s 22 spacious bedrooms abound in dark leathers and subtle patterns, while the same custom-made, Egyptian cotton beds, flat screen TVs and Lavazza coffee machines that are expected of Hotel du Vin welcome guests in St Andrews.

En-suite bathrooms – made even more special by Miller Harris exclusive ‘Terre du Vin’ products – feature large, monsoon showers, while some boast the much-loved freestanding, roll top bathtubs.

The emphasis remains on food and beverage with an extensive mini bar in each room including wines, a room service menu and the option to dine from the Bistro à la carte menu in the guest rooms.

Continuing the ‘restaurant with rooms’ concept, the heart of Hotel du Vin St Andrews will be its Bistro. Overlooking the crashing waves of St Andrews Bay, the Bistro will serve Hotel du Vin’s signature French-inspired menu for lunch and dinner, with an emphasis on quality wine.

An extensive list of champagnes and wines will be carefully selected by Hotel du Vin St Andrews’ expert sommelier, and each will be closely matched with the items on the Bistro’s seasonally changing menus.

Sensitively merging traditional and contemporary styles – which Hotel du Vin has excelled in within each of its previous refurbishments – the St Andrews property will refresh the interiors of next-door Ma Bells public house.

The pub has been a long-standing feature in the town, having served countless students, golfers, locals and visitors since its inception. Over the coming months, Hotel du Vin will develop a menu of traditional pub fare worthy of the large selection of beers, ales and Scottish whiskies served throughout the day.

In addition to its well-proportioned accommodation and dining facilities, Hotel du Vin St Andrews also offers two distinctive rooms. The Boardroom – featuring a luxury club feel and striking views across the West Sands and St Andrews Bay – provides seating for up to 20 people.

Alternatively, the light-flooded Ballroom provides the perfect stage for larger meetings and events, accommodating up to 120 people for dinner.
