The exuberance that has arrived at Calcot Manor with the relaunch of its Conservatory restaurant is palpable from the moment you enter the 35 bedroom hotel near Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
As The Conservatory’s new open-plan layout sets the tone, the neighouring lounges have also undergone a makeover – creating a mood that’s giving Calcot a spirited lift. What has been created is a spread of space, openness and light. Greater flexibility comes with the restaurant’s expansion, thanks to the flow of various-sized spaces that avoids any delineation between reception and restaurant.
“The restaurant’s conservatory aspect and its surrounding landscape have been whole-heartedly harnessed for The Conservatory’s new interiors to play to its name and rural Gloucestershire setting in a truly relevant, contemporary and versatile manner,” outlines Calcot Hotels’ design director, Nicky Farquhar – who has devised the harmonising schemes for Calcot’s ground floor lounges.
In seeking to create classic, contemporary interiors, Calcot appointed Wiltshire-based design consultancy Sims Hilditch and it’s clear to see why. Bleached wood, artful lighting and matched with warm-hued sage, teal and soft fuchsia shades, Neptune Antigua Lloyd Loom armchairs in a neutral shade marry with cushions in a Sanderson delicate floral for a vintage feel. Many more distinctive elements – such as an impressive dark grey dresser and distressed green leaf chandeliers reaching into the skylights – conspire towards understated swank too.
