The Wolseley, London

Thomann-Hanry, an expert in facade cleaning and restoration, has completed both exterior and interior work at this landmark restaurant in London’s Piccadilly – marking the company’s first foray into interior design.

This latest expansion into interiors follows the acquisition of Stonecare by Delta and, as part of this process, the addition of interiors expert, Kevin Hooper, who led the recent interior renovation work at The Wolseley.

Stone wall surfaces in the main restaurant were intensively cleaned and restored using diamond pads on a low-speed oscillating tool. The floor was returned to its pristine condition after a thorough clean using a polishing powder to restore the finish, with impressive results throughout.

“In the restaurant industry it is critical that The Wolseley looks its best both inside and out to maintain the clientele it has become accustomed to,” says Mark Styles, managing director at Thomann-Hanry. “The work by Thomann-Hanry has been a perfect example to showcase our new interior cleaning and restoration expertise. Welcoming Kevin on board is a natural expansion to our business and we look forward to working with our clients on their interior projects – Kevin and his team produce results of a superior quality and we’re confident our clients will only benefit from this additional offering.”

Kevin has been in the specialist interior cleaning sector for over 30 years, and boasts high end, impressive clients including Porsche, Mercedes and BMW showrooms and workshops, iconic restaurants such as The Fat Duck in Bray, Zuma, The Shard, and now The Wolseley in London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports as well as many UK shopping centres including Westfield and BlueWater. He is a long time member of the BICS (British Institute of Cleaning Services) and specialises in the cleaning, renovation and treatment of all types of natural stone.

Kevin Hooper explains, “All natural stone will lose some of its original lustre over a period of time. Stains can cause disfiguration, grout can deteriorate and a build-up of engrained dust and grime will cause the finish to lose its sheen. We will use the finest materials, the best techniques and decades of experience to strip and reseal all types of natural stone. I’m delighted to join the team at Thomann-Hanry and am confident this new interior service offering will be a huge benefit to the business.”

The outside of The Wolseley also benefited from Thomann-Hanry’s expertise. In addition to a standard ‘façade gommage’ clean on their granite plinths, The Wolseley received a QualiProtec clean at ground level to rejuvenate the aluminum surrounds on doors and windows on their front and side elevations. Other detailed restoration included the re-painting of arched windows and metal railings with the three coat Dulux Metalshield system. Brass work was also immaculately restored.
