Accor to open two new five-star hotels in Hungary

Accor and the Hungarian Dreamland Holding tourism real estate development group have signed a partnership agreement to operate two five-star hotels, opening in the last quarter of this year. The Mövenpick hotel brand will be introduced in Hungary with the Mövenpick BalaLand Resort and FamilyPark in Szántód, while the Minaro Hotel MGallery in Tokaj will be the brand’s first hotel outside Budapest. The total value of the two investments is‚¬78 million.

The 100-room, five-star Minaro Hotel MGallery in Tokaj will become one of the best hotels in the elite category in Hungary, complemented by an independent event centre. The themed resort is primarily aimed at couples, incentive tourism and small and medium-sized events. The total value of the investment is ‚¬28 million.

Mövenpick BalaLand will be a 109-room, five-star hotel and adventure park at Lake Balaton in Szántód. The ‚¬50 million resort is the first truly comprehensive resort development around Lake Balaton: it is part of a larger project that includes a unique indoor and outdoor water park and adventure park, more than 5,000 square metres of indoor facilities (also operated by Accor) and 112 residential apartments.

“We are very pleased to be able to cooperate with one of the most important tourist real estate investors in Hungary. This will provide an opportunity to expand Accor’s rural network and strengthen our leading position in the hospitality industry in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe, said Dilek Sezer, Accor’s Director of Development for Southeast Europe. “Both locations have an increasing international appeal: Lake Balaton is the most popular leisure destination in the country, and Tokaj is the world-famous Hungarian wine region.”

“We are delighted that our two top-class resort developments will be supported by a prestigious international brand that offers the highest level of guest experience. Accor has a very strong presence in the region and in other parts of Europe, which are the most important source markets for leisure tourism outside Budapest, added Róbert Vécsey, Chief Operating Officer of Dreamland. “We are also impressed by Accor’s strong digital strategy, which is also playing an increasingly important role in catering services.”

Dreamland is developing four greenfield themed resorts in various key tourist destinations in Hungary, and Accor has been selected as a partner to manage the first two locations. Tokaj and Szántód are among the top five prominent Hungarian tourist destinations announced by the Hungarian Tourism Agency.
