Family-owned Apex Hotels will compete against businesses from across the UK for a national Amazon Growing Business Award, after being shortlisted in the Growing Business of the Year Larger Company category.

Apex Hotels, which is headquartered in Edinburgh, has been shortlisted in recognition of its achievements at the 20th annual Amazon Growing Business Awards, which takes place at The Brewery in London on 28th November.

Apex Hotels was founded by Norman Springford OBE in 1996, with its first hotel situated in the Grassmarket, Edinburgh. Since its latest opening in the autumn of 2017, the Apex City of Bath Hotel, the group now employs over 1000 people across its 10 hotels in Edinburgh, London, Glasgow, Dundee and Bath as well as its own laundry facility in Livingston.

“It’s fantastic to be shortlisted for the 2018 Amazon Growing Business Award,” says Angela Vickers, CEO of Apex Hotels. “Apex Hotels has enjoyed a very positive year in 2018 and this nomination is recognition of the hard work and dedication from the entire Apex team in providing a warmer welcome to all of our customers. We are excited to be represented at the awards ceremony in London on November 28th alongside some of the biggest and best businesses in the country.”

“The depth and breadth of this year’s shortlist proves why the UK is a great place to set up and run a business,” adds Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon. “With a record number of applicants, there was a high level of competition in every category. I’d like to congratulate Apex Hotels Ltd and wish them all the best of luck on the awards night.”

Created by Real Business, headlined by Amazon and supported by the CBI, the Amazon Growing Business Awards are a prestigious UK awards ceremony that celebrates the successes of the UK’s SMEs and entrepreneurs.

New for this year, the Amazon Growing Business Awards will honour businesses who have made a positive impact to society. The 2018 Amazon Growing Business Awards also see the continuation of two new award categories introduced last year celebrate family-owned businesses and the creative industries.

Category winners will be presented with an award and benefit from the publicity associated with the event. All UK-based high-growth and entrepreneurial companies, regardless of size or stage of operations, may enter the awards.
