Avani+ Fares Maldives Resort has opened its doors to offer a new atmosphere of laid-back bliss to guests on the western edge of the Baa Atoll. Set on the natural tropical island of Fares and surrounded by the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve’s deep blue hues, the resort offers an abundance of aquatic adventures as well as pristine sandy beaches for pure relaxation. With 176 stylish villas, pavilions and studios, Avani+ Fares welcomes couples and honeymooners, as well as families and groups, with a focus on multi-room accommodation. Guests can take advantage of enticing opening offers, available until Summer 2024, that reflect the resort’s commitment to providing competitively priced upscale escapes.

The brand-new resort, located just 35 minutes away from Velana International Airport, offers a wide range of accommodation options that embody Avani’s modern approach. Avani+ Fares goes beyond the conventional Maldivian getaway with its selection of 40 spacious and flexible two-, three-, and four-bedroom villas, ideal for group getaways and multi-generational family stays. The resort’s 10 Overwater Pool Villas, overlooking the two lagoons of Dolphin Bay, provide a picturesque sanctuary for couples in search of a dreamy getaway. The resort offers privacy and connectivity, with stylish rooms leading to private pools and sun decks. Guests can enjoy an effortlessly chic indoor-outdoor lifestyle just steps away from the beach.

Avani+ Fares has a range of amenities, including a watersports centre, a dive centre, an AvaniFit gym, and a contemporary AvaniSpa, with a host of activities from e-surfboarding and snorkeling to sound healing and sunrise yoga. Families can rest easy knowing that little ones will be fully entertained at the AvaniKids and Teens Club, complete with splash play area and gaming chill out zone. Avani+ Fares is also home to Maldivian fashion and homeware brand, Island Bazaar’s, first resort boutique, offering guests authentic, handcrafted souvenirs, designed by a collective of local artisans and designers.

The resort offers guests an opportunity to experience the fascinating marine life of the Baa Atoll’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. As one of only 61 islands situated in the marine protected waters of the reserve, guests have easy access to two of the area’s top attractions: Hanifaru Bay, a protected marine area where at certain times of year, over a hundred mantas can be seen feeding and performing mesmerising acrobatic displays, and the awe-inspiring five islands landmark featuring a chain of perfectly formed ring-shaped islands. The resort has an impressive fourteen dive sites right off the beach, a 220-metre house reef bursting with life, and an additional Fares reef that is just 600 metres away from the shore. Complimentary snorkel gear comes as standard and guests can expect to encounter reef sharks, whale sharks, stingrays, eagle rays, green sea turtles, spinner dolphins and a wide variety of marine life during their stay. Nighttime snorkeling provides a captivating experience, allowing guests to witness the nocturnal habits of parrotfish, groupers, snappers, lionfish, garden eels, and crustaceans illuminated by torchlight. They can immerse themselves in a mesmerising environment surrounded by blankets of bioluminescent plankton.

Avani+ Fares offers guests a diverse selection of culinary experiences with its seven trendy restaurants and options for private beach and in-villa dining. Guests can sample local and international cuisine at Ocean Terrace and poolside bar, Skipjack, while Charcoal offers a delectable selection of grilled dishes. The lobby’s Hammock is the go-to spot for grab-and-go snacks and kombuchas, while Tribe and Smuggler’s Shack provide a distinctive after-hours experience with their molecular cocktails and the largest collection of rum in the Maldives. The resort is also home to Petit Bistro, the first kids-only restaurant in the Maldives catering to young guests with healthy and universally loved dishes. No matter the dining option, guests can expect fresh ingredients from the resort’s mini farm which sources organic produce and locally caught catch of the day.

In contrast to conventional Maldivian retreats, Fares ignites the night with vibrant live music, exhilarating DJ sets and captivating fire shows synchronised with the rhythmic Maldivian Bodu Beru drums. Under the spell of the moon, guests can sway to cool beats, savour their favourite cocktails, and immerse themselves in the island’s relaxed vibe. For those seeking a more intimate and soulful evening, Fares showcases the rich musical heritage of the Maldives through captivating performances by talented local guitarists and singers.
