Azmont Investments announces Montenegro’s newest luxury resort

Azmont Investments DOO has unveiled the name of its ‚¬500m luxury development in Montenegro. To be called Portonovi, the project takes inspiration from the nearby location, Herceg Novi.

Located at the most narrow part of the entrance of the Bay of Boka Kotorska, Portonovi is a 60-acre development commanding a position between mountain and sea, with awe-inspiring views of the pristine Adriatic coastline. Portonovi is planned to open in 2016.

Once complete, Portonovi will feature One&Only Portonovi, an ultra-luxury resort offering approximately 120 guest rooms, suites and villas, a destination wellness spa, a world-class marina catering to super yachts, luxury beach club, Portonovi Arena and Conference Centre and a tennis academy. Visitors will be able to discover waterfront shops, cafes and restaurants, botanical gardens with biodiversity and eco-park, as well as a fish market and organic food market.

Portonovi marks Azmont’s vision to create a 21st Century Riviera for Montenegro. A key part of this vision is the partnership with Kerzner International to deliver Europe’s first One&Only resort, which will place an emphasis on luxury while evoking a sense of place, using materials that highlight the natural elements of Montenegro.

In addition to the creation of over 3000 local jobs by 2014, Azmont is heavily involved in local CSR initiatives to help invest in the local community, including the construction of local schools and orphanages. Azmont is also creating two local schools an Azmont Computer Centre to strengthen local students’ computer knowledge and skills.

James Wilson from Azmont says: “Montenegro is a culturally-rich destination that is catching the attention of a truly international audience. As part of our work we are looking to maintain and enhance the surrounding areas whilst at the same time delivering an unparalleled luxury mixed-use resort. We feel that Portonovi, as a location, reflects the balance between international luxury and local community that Azmont investments is seeking to achieve.”
