Crowne Plaza Reading boasts new restaurant and bar interior

The restaurant and bar at Crowne Plaza Reading has reopened following a £300,000 refurbishment, boasting a brand new menu and state-of-the-art kitchen equipment.

In conjunction with ADS Interior Design, Redefine|BDL Hotels and the team at Crowne Plaza Reading have transformed the space into a new 42-cover bar and 90-cover restaurant area.

The fully refitted restaurant, which is part of the hotel operated by Redefine|BDL Hotels, the UK’s largest independent hotel management company, has opened under the new name ‘Riverside’, paying homage to the hotel’s location, nestled on the banks of the River Thames.

“These day people are looking for a place they can get online and stay connected, eat at any time of the day, or simply relax with a coffee – exactly what we’ve created in Riverside,” says Julie Harper, head of food & beverage at Redefine|BDL Hotels.

“The interiors, service style and menu concept have been influenced by casual all-day dining – a huge global trend. We really wanted to have a story behind the Riverside menu and bring in new cooking methods, so we are excited to be the first hotel restaurant in the area to introduce the cutting edge Big Green Egg to its kitchen. It’s at the very centre of the menu.”

David Willmott, general manager at Crowne Plaza Reading, said: “We’re exceptionally proud to launch the new restaurant, and thrilled to introduce a new cooking method which brings a new dimension to the menu. The Big Green Egg draws out the natural flavours from meat and fish which are perfectly complemented by chef’s range of barbecue sauces and rubs.

“Ramneek and the rest of the kitchen team have put together a fresh and varied menu that will appeal to all of our guests and visitors. In particular, the carefully crafted house specials of smoked brisket chilli and buttermilk cornbread are fantastic.

“We look forward to welcoming guests and visitors from the surrounding area to Riverside to enjoy the extensive range of food and drink on offer.”
