Areen Design‘s award-winning hospitality team was responsible for the concept design of all public areas of the new hotel, including the reception, restaurants and conference spaces. With several more in the pipeline, this is Areen Design’s first finished African project.
The rooftop swimming pool and fitness centre boasts spectacular views of the Nairobi National Park and on the ground floor, the impressive atrium features an intricately carved double height feature wall. On arrival, guests are welcomed by a choice of restaurants to enjoy; from all day dining and the lobby café to the rooftop bar and grill.
With over 3,500 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space, the hotel is also expected to become a destination for business travellers, as well as tourists.
“Our design ethos captures the spirit of the locality, with furniture and fittings drawing reference from the vibrancy of Kenya’s textiles and the rich colours of Kenya’s natural environmen,” comments Andrew Linwood, Head of Design, Areen Hospitality.
“Bespoke structure and details are inspired by authentic timber craftsmanship, carvings and scuptures. We’re delighted to see such a positive response from guests and from the owners, who have now entrusted us with improving its sister hotel in the city.”
Areen’s rapidly growing presence in the region reflects the commitment the design team makes to understanding and interpreting local culture and heritage, without sacrificing the international aesthetic and importance of brand presence. With more hotels on the drawing board throughout the continent, Areen expects continued success and an expanding order book.
