Virgin Hotels has appointed David Monson as General Manager for Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, its first London hotel from the luxury lifestyle brand.

A seasoned hotelier, David brings with him over 30 years’ hospitality experience and expertise within globally celebrated five-star hotels across the UK and international market.

In his role at Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, David will spearhead project management and be responsible for the hotel’s day-to-day operations including its food and beverage destinations, ensuring the establishment provides a first-class guest experience for both local and international visitors.

David joins Virgin Hotels from Broadwick Soho, where he held the position of General Manager. Prior, David’s CV spans a six-year term at COMO Hotels & Resorts, and an 18-year tenure at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, including Director roles in London, Dallas, The Bahamas, and Hampshire. During his career, he has also worked at London’s Claridge’s and The Savoy.

David Monson, General Manager at Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, said: “I am thrilled to take on the role of General Manager at the brand’s first London location. I am excited to contribute my expertise and passion and look forward to collaborating closely with my new team to ensure we create unforgettable experiences for our guests”.

James Bermingham, CEO of Virgin Hotels Collection added: “We are beyond excited to welcome David to the Virgin Hotels family. With London-Shoreditch being our first outpost in the capital and the birthplace of the Virgin brand, his appointment comes at an exciting time for the brand’s growth. David’s deep expertise in hospitality, particularly within the UK market, makes him the perfect fit to help us deliver the kind of memorable experiences and heartfelt service that Virgin Hotels is known for.”

Poised to bring an unparalleled blend of heartfelt service, innovation, and personalised experiences to one of London’s most dynamic and eclectic neighbourhoods, Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch opened in August 2024, marking the start of a phased transformation of the 120-bedroom hotel to bring iconic features of the Virgin Hotels brand to the space. The launch of the full hotel is expected to take place in spring 2025.
