Help for Heroes has been announced as the official charity partner for woodworking machinery and materials exhibition, W16, and co-located furniture components show, Elements, which will take place from the 2nd-5th October at the NEC, Birmingham.
Founded in 2007, Help for Heroes offers support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. But for those involved, recovery is so much more than rebuilding damaged bodies; it’s about rebuilding lives and supporting future career paths.
Working alongside W16 and Elements, the charity will focus on its aim to ‘Inspire, Enable and Support’. As well as taking part in active fundraising throughout the four-day event, Help for Heroes will be exhibiting alongside career advisors and apprenticeship co-ordinators in the exhibitions ‘Best Practice Zone’.
Designed to highlight the career prospects and opportunities available to those seeking to employ or begin a career in the furniture design and manufacturing sector, the interactive area will also be promoting the talents and achievements of its Help for Heroes beneficiaries to visitors and exhibitors alike.
“As an industry, we understand the importance of nurturing young talent and promoting apprenticeship schemes but what thought is given to people that don’t necessarily fit the preconceived, school-leaver mould and are not aged between 16-24?” says Lisa Campagnola, events director.
“W16 and the Elements exhibition are the ideal platforms to support and educate the industry on the skill sets talented ex-servicemen and women can offer the sector. By working side-by-side with Help For Heroes, we’re confident that we can engage with employers and aid the careers of those in recovery centres.”
