Paris’ iconic 19th century Louvre post office building now has new life as home to the city’s hottest hotel opening.
Poised to launch this October, Hôtel Madame Rêve has been created by celebrated restaurateur, founder and art director, Laurent Taïeb. Its 82 design-led rooms, including 19 suites on the top floor with magnificent views, are joined by two destination restaurants and a spectacular 1000 square metre roof terrace, to create the ultimate intimate enclave in the city’s vibrant creative quarter.
This heritage building is one of the most recognisable architectural landmarks in the city, and boasts a prestigious location amidst the cafe and gallery-lined streets of the 1st arrondissement.
As guests enter the ground floor lobby they are transpored to another era as the hotel’s 19th century architecture and characterful design embrace its Parisian roots. Thoughtful woodowrk, oak flooring, velvet curtains and golden brown hues throughout are reminiscent of the elegant brasseries of the Riviera.
As visitors move higher up the hotel, they are taken on a modern voyage through sprawling indoor gardens and wooden surroundings – a mix of vintage and contemporary styles. The furniture has either been custom-made or sensitively restored, with notable pieces including Henryot & Cie’s distinctive chairs and Pierre Frey fabrics.
Inspired by Laurent’s travels, guests are invited to feast on Mediterranean-style fare at the ground level brasserie, and Japanese-influenced cuisine at the hotel’s high-tech fourth-floor restaurant-bar.
