IHG breaks ground on new Miami EVEN Hotels property

IHG has recently celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking of its new EVEN Hotels property in suburban Miami. Located within the vibrant and growing Miami community of the same name, EVEN Hotel Sweetwater – Doral is projected to open in time for the busy summer travel season in 2024.

EVEN Hotel Sweetwater – Doral will feature key elements of the brand’s recently introduced refreshed prototype, all aimed at putting “Wellness within Reach” for travelers and enabling them to restore, rejuvenate and retain their unique personal routines while on the road. The hotel promotes fitness through a choice of three room types containing varying exercise amenities – ranging from yoga mats to Peloton bikes – along with access to its central, state-of-the-art athletic studio. Guests also can select from a range of health-conscious and indulgent meals, snacks and beverages from the new EVEN Kitchen & Bar restaurant and adjacent 24/7 market.

In addition to its proximity to the culture and commerce of the Doral neighborhood, EVEN Hotel Sweetwater – Doral offers convenient access to many of the region’s most visited destinations. The hotel is located within 15 miles of both the Miami International Airport and downtown Miami, and is a 30-minute drive to Miami Beach and South Beach. Guests also can walk to the nearby Dolphin Mall for a day of shopping or enjoy the scenic parks and best-in-class golf courses that have defined the community’s evolution.

Matt Frankiewicz, SVP, Development, Americas for IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “The groundbreaking of EVEN Hotel Sweetwater – Doral is the latest milestone in an exciting future for the brand, with an Americas pipeline that will expand its regional estate by nearly 50 percent in the coming years and a new prototype that will both promote wellness among guests and streamline costs and operations for owners. EVEN Hotels’ emphasis on traveling and living well aligns perfectly with Miami and the thriving Doral community. We look forward to establishing this hotel as a must-visit travel destination and model representation of all that EVEN Hotels can offer for owners and guests.”

IHG will collaborate on EVEN Hotel Sweetwater – Doral with owner and developer ASI Diaz Doral Hotel Investment Group LLC (an affiliate of Miami-based residential and commercial real estate company ASI Global), architect Tony Rodriguez-Tellaheche and interior designer Kathy Kesler. The project extends IHG’s engagement with ASI Global beyond their previous development of the nearby Staybridge Suites Miami International Airport.

Luis Prado, President and Principal of ASI Diaz Doral Hotel Investment Group, said: “Miami’s reemergence as a coveted travel destination has fueled the rise of Doral and similar culture-rich communities, and increased demand for broader hotel options that suit guests’ varying lifestyles and routines. We are thrilled to extend our relationship with IHG and introduce the EVEN Hotels brand to leisure and business travelers within a new section of our city.”

Launched as the industry’s first hotel brand with wellness at its core, EVEN Hotels continues to pursue and expand to new markets and build upon a global portfolio that currently includes more than 50 open or in pipeline hotels. The brand’s strong and ongoing momentum in the Americas includes upcoming openings in Austin and Waco, Tex., Beaverton, Ore. and Bozeman, Mont.
