Immersive experiences and visual storytelling at the heart of Linda Boronkay’s new design studio

Multi-award-winning designer Linda Boronkay has founded her own interior architecture and design studio comprising a multidisciplinary team of professionals with expertise in hospitality, residential and commercial as well as product design and branding. The fast-growing studio opens with projects spanning three continents, specifically in London, Los Angeles and Sydney.

Renowned in the industry for her warmth and emotionally intelligent approach, Boronkay’s 12-year career has seen her work for an impressive roster of global clients. Most recently, she led a team of nearly 100 colleagues at Soho House where she took overall design responsibility for members’ clubs in Asia, Europe and the UK, overseeing hotel rooms, restaurants, bars, lounges, event and co-working spaces, bespoke furniture lines and home accessories. Prior to joining Soho House in 2016, the designer held positions at top design practices including Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Tara Bernerd & Partners, Tom Dixon and Woods Bagot, collaborating on sites and destinations for Caprice Holdings, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Greenland Group, Morgans (now SBE), Nobu Global, Qantas, Starwood Capital and Virgin Hotels.

In addition to hospitality and commercial, Boronkay has designed highly individual homes, bespoke residences and sumptuous sanctuaries for private clients from the worlds of film, music and monarchy. There is a cinematic quality to her work, rich in storytelling, artistry and integrity. Drawing daily inspiration from art, culture, fashion, literature and movies to create projects that balance individuality and functionality, heritage and modernity, character and comfort, she is in demand as an industry commentator, speaker and judge.

The move comes at an opportune time. “Despite the challenges of 2020, I’ve been fortunate to be offered some amazing opportunities, which means the timing feels right to open a studio with a close-knit and talented team,” says Boronkay.

“Drawing on our collective experience of more than 70 years, we offer a highly customised experience to clients, responding to their individuality, needs and desires first and foremost. Based on detailed research and an immersive attitude, our distinctive concepts embrace everything from interior architecture and design through to loose furnishings and everyday accessories.”

Under Boronkay’s leadership, the studio seeks to elicit a strong emotional connection to the spaces it creates, layering objects, colour, textiles and lighting with imagination, instinct and, sometimes, restraint. From homes that represent a safe haven to restaurants that stimulate and entice, every project is pursued with dedication and passion. “Just like a certain song or fragrance can have an incredible emotional impact on us, we believe design has the same power to evoke positive memories and feelings. In combination with aesthetics, it’s this emotional response to the physical world that we’re excited to explore,” adds Boronkay.
