Jurys Inn Group has announced a £12.1m extension project which will see one of its London hotels, Jurys Inn Islington on Pentonville Road, become the 32-strong hotel group’s flagship hotel. The 51 week project, due for completion in September 2014, will comprise of an extension and a complete refurbishment of the company’s first London hotel, which opened in 1998.
Contractor McAleer and Rushe will work on the project, with the first stage of construction set to begin this month. This will involve an extension of the existing hotel which will include the development of 143 new bedrooms, increasing the hotel’s accommodation offering to 372 bedrooms in total. Following the extension, 22 additional jobs will be created in areas such as food and beverage, housekeeping, reception and management.
There will also be a conference centre, located on the ground floor, comprising of seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms which will continue to offer the AIM-accredited Jurys Meetings product. The largest room will cater for up to 90 delegates. To facilitate the changing lifestyle of guests, a gym will be included, as well as a complete remodelling of the lobby, restaurant and bar area. A Costa coffee bar will also be installed.

Jurys Inn has earmarked a total spend of £25m for projects up to the end of 2014 as part of an ongoing refurbishment programme. The overall investment focuses primarily on refurbishments, as well as some IT and systems spend which will allow Jurys Inn to deliver significantly enhanced services to customers.
