JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian marks 50th Marriott International hotel in Shanghai

Marriott International has announced the highly-anticipated opening of JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian, marking the historic 50th Marriott International hotel to open in Shanghai.

Located on Hangzhou Bay in the city’s Fengxian seaside district, just an hour’s drive south of metropolitan Shanghai, the new hotel promises to be a sophisticated and luxurious sanctuary, as well as a convenient gateway to Shanghai and nearby cities such as Hangzhou and Suzhou.

Designed by international design company, PLD, the hotel’s style narrative is inspired by its natural surroundings, with its exterior imagined as the legendary bird Roc, from the fable of “Roc hopping into the sea”. The interior is awash with natural materials, such as wood and marble in undulating, curvilinear forms to reflect the waves of the nearby East Sea.

265 guest rooms and suites in restful shades of sable and blue echo the beaches and sea, with clean modern lines and every thoughtful amenity for guests’ comfort and convenience.

The hotel’s F&B offering includes three distinctive restaurants and a bar, with menus featuring freshly harvested produce from the hotel’s own on-site garden, JW Garden.

All-day dining outlet JW Kitchen offers a tempting menu of local and international dishes at live cooking stations, including a charcoal grilling station with the freshest meats and seafood.

Fine dining restaurant Yan Xuan, with 15 elegant dining rooms for private events, serves Cantonese and Shanghainese delicacies paired with fragrant Chinese teas.

Signature restaurant Shanghai Crab & Co. has tanks filled with fresh crustaceans and a menu featuring its signature boiled king crab and seafood towers. Throughout the day, guests can linger at the welcoming Lobby Lounge.

For flexible meetings and special gatherings, the hotel features fully-equipped conference facilities including a 1,800-square-metre, naturally-lit meeting area. A 900-square-meter grand banquet hall, a smaller 600-square-meter hall, and four multifunction rooms offer the space and flexibility to host talk-of-the-town events, with intuitive service that is the hallmark of The JW Treatment.

Inspired by the principles of mindfulness, JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai Fengxian is a place of tranquility with abundant offerings to pamper guests. Spa by JW® offers spa treatments for guests to calm the mind and invigorate the body whilst a 24-hour fitness centre and 25-meter heated infinity swimming pool lets guests choose their preferred workout hours.
