KTI appoints Shelley Thompson

Kimberly Timmons Interiors (KTI) is pleased to announce the recent addition of Shelley Thomson, NCIDQ, to the KTI team – a project manager with a wealth of high-end hospitality experience completed on an international scale. Thomson presents strong design sensibilities honed over a wide range of projects, with an acute appreciation for the importance of designing ultra-luxurious guest spaces that also support hotel staff usability. Thomson’s professional roots trace back to an in-house designer position with Fairfield Resorts in 2002. There she learned the ins and outs of resort design from a functional and guest experience perspective that still shapes her design ambitions today.

“It’s really important to find a true balance in the design that provides the guest with a sense of escape while still being an efficient business resource,” comments Thomson, who grew up bi-costal splitting time between northern New Jersey and the San Francisco Bay area. After her start with Fairfield, Thomson matriculated through several design studios where she developed strong management skills on projects of continually increasing complexity and prominence throughout resort design. In three years with Wilson Associates in Dallas, TX, Shelley worked on several five-star resorts including The Venetian in Macau, China, Dubai’s Atlantis the Palm, and the Peabody Hotel in Orlando.

“Shelley brings a tremendous amount of hospitality design knowledge to our team and big project experience,” remarks KTI principal Kimberly Timmons-Buetner. “We are excited to add depth to our already strong team and will pursue more coveted design opportunities with Shelley in place.”

Thomson noted KTI’s timeless design styles and strong culture of collaboration with owners as an indicator the firm would be a good match for her interests. Since 1997, KTI’s designs for hospitality, residential, commercial, and interior merchandising have garnered close to 100 awards and have been published in dozens of magazines. In 2015 KTI was recognized as one of ColoradoBiz Magazine’s Top 250 Private Companies. With this new staff addition in place, hospitality partners receive true value and design expertise.
