Lavazza, the Italian company born in 1895, is one of the world’s longest standing, best recognised and most acclaimed coffee brands. The London store is a unique Lavazza Flagship, inspired by the first based in Milan. Here, coffee is transformed into more than just one of the most popular drinks, taking innovative forms which consumers can experience exclusively at the Lavazza Flagship store.

Situated in a historical building opposite the iconic Liberty store on Great Marlborough Street, the brand has engaged with renowned names, from design to gastronomy, to transform the London Flagship. The newly renovated concept store creates a unique consumer journey from the Caffetteria through to the Pasticceria and Gastronomia, with a menu curated by Michelin-starred chef Federico Zanasi. All aspects of the Flagship store showcase Lavazza’s passion for excellence, as well as authentic Italian quality and creativity. The extensive coffee menu, including Lavazza exclusive coffee design recipes, pastries, dishes and Aperitivos come together to create a destination where speciality coffee meets pastry and gastronomy delicacies.

The Lavazza Flagship will launch a signature pastry offering by Chef Marco Pedron, available from breakfast through to afternoon tea, available exclusively at the Lavazza Flagship London and Milan Stores. A new gastronomy menu will also be launched by Michelin starred chef Federico Zanasi with dishes from Homemade savoury Maritozzo with Burrata and crispy Octopus to Focaccia with Stracciatella cheese, Mortadella and pistachio pesto, which can be enjoyed with coffee inspired twists on the classic Aperitivo.

“The Lavazza Flagship Store in London is a place where customers can immerse themselves in coffee experiences,” said Gloria Bagdadli, Global Retailing Director, Lavazza Group. “The newly designed space from the Caffetteria to the Pasticceria and Gastronomia, offer exclusive ways to enjoy our 1895 Specialty Coffee by Lavazza, Italian Michelin starred gastronomy and awarded creativity in Italian pastry.”

Caffetteria

At the Lavazza Flagship Store, experiences for guests will include memorable coffee moments, where a Coffelier – the sommelier of coffee – will prepare coffee-based creations and present different extraction methods in front of guests. The 1895 Speciality coffee range has been selected by Lavazza for the London Flagship store. From micro-lot to single origin and premium blends, guests can immerse themselves in the world of coffee.

Creations on the menu which guests can enjoy include, the iconic Tiramisù dessert – with sponge cake, mascarpone mousse and a magic touch of coffee through to an espresso transformed into ‘coffee caviar’. Lavazza have also launched the Signature Cappuccino, a take on an Italian classic, a deep foamed cappuccino with a velvety texture and smooth finish, created by the Lavazza Training Centre for milk lovers.

Pasticceria

Lavazza will unveil a unique pastry experience with a dedicated range created for the Flagship stores by Marco Pedron, Pastry Chef . His vision was to create exclusive pastries at Lavazza which can be enjoyed in harmony with the 1895 speciality coffee blends. All the pastries on the menu, are rooted in the Italian classics from the Crostatina di frutta, an Italian tradition in classic shortbread with custard cream and fruits, enriched with a mix of herbs through to a Caprese Al Cioccolato, a traditional Neapolitan classic, flourless soft chocolate cookie.

Gastronomia

An exclusive food menu will be available throughout the Lavazza Flagship, developed by Michelin-Starred Chef Federico Zanasi. Those visiting the store later in the day can sample the unique ‘Coffeetails™’ menu – created by the Lavazza Training Centre – or bespoke cocktails created by the Campari Academy for Lavazza – such as Nuvola Spritz, Milano Mule or Negroni Cold Brew, made with Campari, Gin Bankes, Vermouth Bianco Cinzano 1757 and a hint of Barolo Chinato infused with freshly roasted coffee – paired with a selection of small bites for the ultimate Italian aperitivo.

Design

The Flagship will capture guests’ imagination as they move beyond the main coffee bar through to cosy coffee corners. A new destination will be unveiled off the main entrance, The Argyll area, a table service space with comfortable seats to enjoy the coffee experience centred around an art installation. “The Pillar of Aroma”, a bespoke work of art created by Lavazza with the artistic coordination of artist Daniele Sigalot is a striking celebration of the iconic Carmencita Moka Pot, designed by Zanuso in 1979, that is not to be missed.
