Malhotra Group has appointed barrister Anu Kaura as head of human resources, Marcin Szmycinski in the role of operations manager and Joanne Padgett in the position of project manager.
Anu, an employment expert from Prudhoe, Northumberland, has spent almost 20 years handling private and legal aid work for law firms.
Along with managing the Group’s HR department, Anu will bring her experience to bear on complex employment matters and on property related agreements.
Marcin, who holds a Masters degree from Szczecin-Poland University, joins Malhotra Group – which owns The New Northumbria Hotel, at Jesmond, Newcastle’s recently refurbished Grey Street Hotel, and the Three Mile Inn, at Gosforth – from The Vermont Hotel, Newcastle, where he held the combined role of operations manager and deputy general manager.
Reporting directly to director of operations, Atul Malhotra, Marcin’s primary responsibility will be the day to day management of all leisure outlets in the Group’s portfolio.
Joanne, a graduate in Construction Engineering Management from Northumbria University, is an experienced construction manager and will oversee a variety of projects from inception to completion.
They join Malhotra Group PLC, which owns some of Tyneside’s most popular hotels, bars and restaurants, along with a portfolio of residential care homes under its Prestwick Care division, at a time of significant growth for the company.
Among its plans are the building of a 64-bedroom hotel at the Three Mile Inn site, Gosforth, featuring conference and function facilities, private dining, café and residents lounge and the total refurbishment of the existing bar and Scalini’s restaurant.
The New Northumbria Hotel, at Jesmond, is also to be re-developed to include a new sport’s bar within the former Louis restaurant, a new gin bar and additional bedrooms while Market Lane – known as Monkey Bar – at Pilgrim Street, Newcastle, is also to be fully refurbished over both floors.
In addition, Prestwick Care is embarking on two new care home schemes – a 66-bedroom home at Ryhope, Sunderland, which will open at the end of 2018 and the development of the former Rex Hotel, Whitley Bay, which will open as an 83-bedroom home in 2019.
Building of a new, 87-room care facility is already underway at Alnwick.
“We are delighted to welcome Anu, Marcin and Joanne to our senior leadership team,” says Atul Malhotra. “Our expansion programme will incorporate all divisions of the Group across a relatively short time frame, so they could not be joining at a better time.”
