Marugal Hotel Management to manage Grand Hôtel Soleil d’Or in Mégève

Marugal, one of Europe’s leading white-label hotel management companies, has added the Grand Hôtel Soleil d’Or in Mégève to its portfolio of fourteen individual luxury hotels.  Each hotel in the portfolio is entirely different to the others, but they are bound by a golden thread of simple luxury, a spirit of generosity – and true excellence.

The Grand Hôtel Soleil d’Or is Mégève’s leading hotel, first opened in 1901.  In 2019, following a significant restoration, it reopened with 30 transformed suites and rooms in the original building, and the addition of three 4-bedroom chalets, for exclusive use for groups of friends or families.  In the heart of Mégève, the hotel is famous for its rooftop bar with its fabulous views over the village and the mountains beyond; its Savoyard restaurant; and the deeply indulgent La Chocolaterie, a favourite social hub of the village.

When Groupe BMF acquired the hotel in 2018, the family office laid down three objectives:

  • To give this remarkable hotel the restoration it deserved, whilst respecting its original Savoyard architecture
  • To ensure the hotel continued to be an integral part of the community, building trust and strong relationships with all its stakeholders.
  • To offer a truly authentic, exclusive and unforgettable stay for every guest.

Fabien Bertini, co-founder of Groupe BMF with his brother Michaël Bertini, explained: “We share a common DNA with Marugal – to preserve the cultural heritage of the destination; to ensure that the hotel contributes positively to the local economy; to maintain the integrity of all aspects of the hotel – from the spaces to the products – and the creation and delivery of a completely tailor-made experience for every guest, every family, which they will never forget.  A special moment where elegance and pleasure are perfectly in sync, where each thoughtful action makes the guest feel truly special and valued.”

Arnaud Laporte-Weywada, MD of Marugal France said: “By partnering with Groupe BMF for the management of the Grand Hôtel Soleil d’Or, a really exceptional hotel in the heart of the alpine village of Mégève, we are forging a relationship based on collaboration and trust, full of promise for the future.  The vision of Groupe BMF and its leaders are in perfect harmony with Marugal’s sustainability strategy and our commitment to responsible growth.  Our partnership is also a promise made to everyone involved, to create a sweet spot – a blend of authenticity, magic and luxury,”

Together, Groupe BMF and Marugal aim to ensure the Grand Hôtel Soleil d’Or is woven into the fabric of Mégève – as an essential part of the life of the village.
