Meliá Hotels International is expanding its Latin American presence with the signing of an exclusive luxury hotel in Buenos Aires. Casa Lucia is the newest addition to The Meliá Collection’s curated collection of distinctive hotels, situated in the iconic Mihanovich Building in the Retiro neighbourhood. Marking the brand’s debut into Latin America, the property has undergone an extensive renovation and refurbishment and is set to open its doors next month.

The property features 142 rooms, wellness spaces including an indoor pool, spa and fully equipped gym, signature cocktail bar and fine dining restaurant. Interiors integrate sophistication and elegance, paying homage to the golden age of Argentina, whilst seeking inspiration from the rich history of the building, which was first completed in 1928.  A celebration of Buenos Aires’ most lustrous eras, Casa Lucia will offer an exclusive hotel experience that nods to the city’s art and culture scene. Set in the spirited Retiro neighbourhood renowned for its fine architecture and galleries, the hotel invites both visitors and residents to explore the city through a new lens.

Providing a unique connection to Buenos Aires, a curated cultural program will further enhance the guest experience. Through carefully selected activities, the hotel plays narrator to the city, with an itinerary that showcases the Belle Époque era, where art takes centre stage. Both the bar and restaurant are set to become the city’s new social hub, serving a vibrant menu of delicious dishes and signature cocktails. A city-centre sanctuary, the spa will offer exclusive treatments tailored to provide the ultimate rejuvenation, while the fully equipped gym allows guests to maintain fitness routines whilst away.

Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International states “Casa Lucia will mark a turning point in our presence in Argentina, being the first hotel of The Meliá Collection luxury brand in the Americas. I am confident that this hotel, with its unique concept of luxury deeply rooted in the essence of the destination, will not only represent a milestone in Meliá’s expansion but also in the hotel landscape of Buenos Aires.”

Casa Lucia marks the sixth Meliá Hotels International property in Argentina, with two properties in the pipeline, further demonstrating the leading hotel group’s commitment to global growth and expansion in the coming years.
