Ping Pong – the restaurant group famed for dim sum, gourmet Chinese teas and artesian cocktails – is continuing its expansion in the UK with a new opening in East London’s Westfield Shopping Centre. The new Stratford branch is expected to open on the 3rd March, and will create 20 new jobs at the site.
The new location was signed for in early December, and is the first Ping Pong to open in a Westfield centre. Following in the footsteps of the recently-opened Wembley Park location, Ping Pong has invested £500,000 to create a fresh new look, branding design and improved dining experience for the Westfield branch.
The interior design has been created in conjunction with Caulder Moore. Referencing the urban side of Shanghai chic – both modern and 1930s – the decor includes splashes of paprika red, jade green and charcoal grey. The dim sum counter has been brought forward, and a tea bar dressed with copper tea pots stacked high on timber shelves – following the tradition of Chinese tea houses – has been introduced. The addition of the cocktail bar will provide an ideal setting in which to indulge in artisan cocktails using exotic ingredients such as yuzu tapioca pearls, lychee and passion fruit.
Art Sagiryan, CEO of Ping Pong, says: “As a buzzing fashion and style hub, Westfield Stratford is an ideal place for Ping Pong to open. The new location marks our growth outside of central London as we look to further expand our estate next year. The opening will kick off an exciting year following positive like-for-like sales results to end 2013. We look forward to welcoming shoppers to the new restaurant.”
Ping Pong also continues to grow outside of the UK, with successful locations open in Washington DC, Dubai and Mumbai.
