The Quy Mill Hotel and Spa has announced that Tony Murdock has been appointed to its Board of Directors.

Since his appointment in 2013 as the General Manager of the Hotel, Tony has been instrumental in the team successfully achieving AA 4 Star status, an Investors in People award, and a prestigious AA 4 Star Silver Status award amongst numerous other accolades.

“The Directors are delighted that Tony has joined the Board,” comments David Munro, Chairman of the Board. “Tony has the vision, drive and stature to lead the Hotel into its next phase of development. We enthusiastically look forward to his ongoing development of what is fast becoming the leading hotel in the Cambridge area.”

Tony began his career in hospitality in Belfast almost 20 years ago, and has since managed several 4 Star hotels in Ireland, Scotland and England. Alongside his role as General Manager of the Quy Mill Hotel, Tony is also the Founder and Chairman of the Cambridge ROAR Festival, which is based at the Hotel. The ROAR Festival raises money for local charities and returns for its fifth year in June.

Since his appointment as General Manager in 2013, Tony has spearheaded the Hotel’s development and been instrumental in the Hotel receiving numerous awards including a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence; Booking.com Certificate of Excellence (highest rated venue in Cambridge); AA 4 Star Silver Status (highest rated 4 Star Hotel in Cambridgeshire); 2 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence; Visit England Breakfast Award; Silver Award for Visit England’s Green Tourism Scheme; Wedding Dates ‘Top Rated Wedding Venue in Cambridgeshire’; 5 Star Wedding Service Award; finalist for ‘Small Business of the Year’ – Cambridge Business Awards; ‘Investors in People’ Standard; and promotion to the ‘BW Premier Collection’ Brand.

In addition to his day job, Tony is also a prolific fundraiser through the ROAR Festival and in his spare time he runs marathons to raise money for a range of charities. To date, he has raised almost £72,000 in the last three years.

Commenting on his appointment, Tony said: “I am tremendously excited to be joining the Board of Directors at the Quy Mill Hotel and Spa, particularly as we enter the next chapter of its life. I look forward to the on-going development of the Hotel’s reputation as the hotel of choice in Cambridgeshire and will continue to drive exceptional customer experiences.”
