SIR hotels to open first Ibiza hotel this June

SIR hotels will open its fifth hotel, Sir Joan, in Ibiza this June.

Located in the centre of Ibiza, overlooking the port and the old town, the hotel presents an urban getaway that draws on the distinct characteristics of Ibiza’s ‘split personality’ as an exclusive luxury destination and a party island.

Designed by Baranowitz + Kronenberg, the award-winning architects and interior designers, Sir Joan pays homage to the maritime environment surrounding the hotel and the island’s bohemian lux.

“As with all SIR hotels, it is crucial they reflect our ethos of bringing locally inspired guest experiences to dynamic locations,” says Liran Wizman, owner and founder of SIR Collection. “Sir Joan has the feel of a luxury private villa that also harks back to Ibiza’s nostalgic era where free-spirited communities created and influenced music and art on the island.

“This combination of revival with contemporary luxury has created the ideal urban oasis in the heart of the world-famous party island.”

On the ground floor, vertical corrugated steel bars line up along the interior walls, resonating with naval ropes and the erosion of metal by the sea while the outside area boasts a wraparound pool lined with cabanas and lounge chairs.

Vertical green walls and minimalist waterfalls provide a natural and calming backdrop transporting guests away from the bustling city surrounding them to a relaxing paradise.

The public area is made to feel like a ‘members only’ social club and is the heart of the hotel, designed in an open and holistic way. The iconic Amsterdam restaurant, IZAKAYA, founded and owned by Yossi Eliyahoo and Liran Wizman of THE ENTOURAGE GROUP, will take over most of the inside and outside public spaces creating a new hotspot for the island.

IZAKAYA offers contemporary dining where extravagant Japanese cuisine meets Peruvian flavours- an all-encompassing concept where the ambiance and the food provide an immersive experience.

In addition, Sir Joan will include THE BUTCHER, an award-winning high-end burger bar. Accessed via a separate entrance, the famous Amsterdam eatery will open throughout the night, catering to the island’s late night revellers.

The 38 rooms and suites feature stripped wooden yacht flooring and highly polished stainless steel wall panels, which, when hit by the incoming sunlight, visually emulate the movement of waves.

Each room features a balcony, while the suites have up to three balconies as well as an indoor living area. The hotel offers two penthouse suites on the top floor, each possessing private balconies encircling the room with outdoor seating areas and a private cabana.

The unique design of the rooms offers the feeling of intimacy and the luxury of being on a yacht while the hotel stays true to the openness of Balearic identity.
