The Petersham Restaurant in Richmond – set within the Petersham Hotel – is to re-open on Tuesday 17th January, following a complete refurbishment carried out at the start of the month.
The restaurant’s new interior enhances the floor-to-ceiling panoramic views of the River Thames, and draws inspiration from the colours of the early morning, misty river vista.
Designed by London-based firm, Kanvass, deep blues and soft greys are brighetened with the strategic placement of mirrors to bring natural daylight into the room.
The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, with menus designed by head chef Ade Adeshina that present seasonal, local produce in a modern British style.
“As a Richmond resident for 12 years there a was a deep connection with the signature elements to this wonderful property that we wanted to enhance,” says Tris Hillier, MD of Kanvass Design. “The restaurant views of the river were our core inspiration, ever aware of the impact of the changing seasons and its affect on the interior. We are delighted with how it has worked to bring light and life into the space.
“Kanvass has a real affinity with The Petersham – my father was a landscape artist and painted the view many years ago, capturing the early morning mist across the river which served as a significant influence for the eventual colour palette. Incredibly, our lead designer Sophie Bicknell’s mother, Janet McDougall, actually designed the original restaurant, so it’s now the second generation of designers working with the second generation of the Dare family.”
An official launch event for the newly refurbished Petersham Restaurant will take place in early February.
